Socket Guidance Notes

We probably have the largest range of sockets and accessories in the UK, available from stock that may be bought in small quantities (minimum quantity is 1). Most of them are made in China and are high glazed white ceramic.

Sockets may be selected in one of three ways

  • Part Number eg SK9CC22
This will display that specific part and any variations of it. Entering less of the part number, will widen the search, for instance
SK9C will display all the 9-pin ceramic sockets.
SK9 will display all the 9-pin sockets, whether ceramic or plastic, and all relevant accessories.
A -G at the end of any part number indicates that the metal work, usually including brackets, is gold plated.
  • Base Reference eg B9A
This will display everything relating to B9A valves (such as ECC83) - all the bases, whether ceramic or plastic, chassis or PCB, as well as all the shielding cans, retainers etc. AO8 will do the same for everything relating to Octal valves (such as EL34).
  • Socket Group
If, for instance, you are specifically looking for B9A chassis mounting sockets or Accessories for Octal sockets, the the quickest way is to use the Socket Group Table.

Having selected the sockets by any of the above means, a number of alternatives will usually be displayed. The information shown will help you narrow the choice before proceeding to the Socket Purchase Table where more detailed information along with a photo and line drawing may usually be found.

Here is a brief run down of the information displayed at all stages.

Socket Group Table

  • Socket Group This is particularly relevant to the B9A and Octal ranges which are very large. This splits them up into Chassis, PCB and Accessory and is used by the Socket Group Table.
  • Description A brief description of what can be found in each Socket Group.

Socket Selection Table

  • Part Number This is our unique part number. When quoted in full, it identifies the part precisely and is the quickest way of re-ordering.

  • Typical Valves Some of the usual valves with which the socket or accessory can used.
  • Material This details what the part is made from ceramic, plastic or aluminium (such as shielding cans).
  • Style This details whether the part is chassis, PCB, an accessory or a top cap.
